AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Mitsubishi MU-2 Series Aeroplanes AD/MU-2/72 Electrical Wiring 7/2009 Applicability: MU-2B model aeroplanes as follows: Aeroplane Model Serial Number MU-2B-10, -15, -20 and -25 005 through 238 MU-2B-30 502 through 547 MU-2B-36 501 Requirement: Unless already accomplished, inspect and, if necessary, correct any incorrect wiring of the engine fire detection circuit and the DC power emergency relay circuit in accordance with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries MU-2 Service Bulletin 187A dated 9 June 1981 or later Revision approved by the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB). Note: JCAB AD TCD-2048-81 refers. Compliance: Within 30 days after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 2 July 2009. Background: A review of Australian ADs has revealed that two JCAB ADs were never issued as Australian ADs because at the time of issue Australian registered MU-2B aircraft were not affected. Since then, additional MU-2B aeroplanes have been registered in Australia and some are in the affected serial number range.
