AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) 206 and Agusta Bell 206 Series Helicopters
AD/BELL 206/179 Main Rotor Pitch Horn Bearing 11/2009
Applicability: Bell Helicopter Textron Canada (BHTC) helicopters as detailed in Table 1 of this AD.

Requirement: 1. Inspect the bearing, P/N 206-011-105-001, in accordance with Accomplishment Instructions provided in the applicable Alert Service Bulletin listed in Table 2 of this AD dated 25 February 2009, or later revisions approved by the Chief, Continuing Airworthiness, Transport Canada.

2. If, as a result of the inspection detailed in Requirement 1of this AD, the bearing needs to be replaced, replace it with a serviceable bearing.
Note: Transport Canada AD CF-2009-34 dated 25 August 2009 refers.
Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Within 30 days after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished.
For Requirement 2 - Before further flight.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 22 October 2009.
Background: It has been determined that some bearings, P/N 206-011-105-001, were manufactured without the required lubrication passage. If not corrected could lead to loss of control of the helicopter.
