AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/PW4000/11 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Pratt and Whitney Turbine Engines - PW4000 Series AD/PW4000/11 Amdt 1 LCF Items - Mandatory Inspections 11/2009
Applicability: Pratt and Whitney PW4000 engines as specified by models in FAA AD 2005-25-09. Requirement: Action in accordance with the requirements of FAA AD 2005-25-09.
Note: FAA AD 2005-25-09 Amdt 39-14402 dated 5 December 2009 refers. This AD supersedes FAA AD 2002-03-08. Compliance: As detailed in the requirement document with a revised effective date of 22 October 2009. This Amendment becomes effective on 22 October 2009. Background: FAA study of in-service events involving uncontained failures have indicated the need for mandatory inspections to ensure safety. This AD introduces these additional inspections.
The original issue of this AD became effective 11 July 2002.
