AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Propellers - Variable Pitch - McCauley AD/PMC/53 Cracked Propeller Blades 12/2009 DM
Applicability: McCauley Propeller Systems propeller models B5JFR36C1101/114GCA-0, C5JFR36C1102/L114GCA-0, B5JFR36C1103/ 114HCA-0 and C5JFR36C1104/L114HCA-0. Note 1: These propellers are known to be installed on, but not limited to, BAE Systems (Operations) Limited Jetstream Model 4100 and 4101 series aeroplanes (Jetstream 41). Requirement: 1. For propeller blades with more than 10,000 operating hours time-since-new (TSN) on the effective date of this Directive, unless previously accomplished in accordance with AD/PMC/52, remove the propeller blades from service. 2. For propeller blades with more than 3,000 operating hours TSN on the effective date of this Directive, remove the propeller blades from service. 3. For propeller blades with 3,000 or fewer operating hours TSN on the effective date of this Directive, remove the propeller blades from service. Propeller blades removed in accordance with Requirements 1 through 3 are prohibited from installation in any configuration on any airframe. 4. Remove the propeller blades and the hubs listed in Table 1 of this Directive from service. The propeller blades and hubs listed in Table 1 are prohibited from installation in any configuration on any airframe.
