AD/DO 328/74 - Engine Controls - Power Lever Control Box (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Dornier 328 Series Aeroplanes AD/DO 328/74 Engine Controls - Power Lever Control Box 12/2009

Applicability: Dornier Luftfahrt GmbH; Fairchild-Dornier GmbH; AvCraft Aerospace GmbH Model 328-100 aeroplanes. Requirement: 1. Inspect and modify the power lever control box in accordance with the accomplishment instructions of 328 Support Services GmbH Service Bulletin SB-328-76-486 dated 15 July 2009.

2. If discrepancies are found during the inspection and installation as detailed in Requirement 1 of this AD, contact 328 Support Services GmbH for corrective actions and accomplish those actions accordingly.

The use of later approved revisions of this document is acceptable for compliance with the requirements of this AD.

Note: EASA AD 2009-0196 dated 4 September 2009 refers. Compliance: For Requirement 1 - Within the next 15 months after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished.

For Requirement 2 - Before further flight. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 November 2009. Background: Several runway excursion incidents and a single accident have occurred in the past with Dornier 328-100 aeroplanes, where the power lever could not be operated as intended during the landing roll-out. This situation has resulted in a safety record below the desirable standard.
