AD/SF340/12 Amdt 1 - Air Conditioning System Couplings (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/SF340/12 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

SAAB SF340 Series Aeroplanes AD/SF340/12 Amdt 1 Air Conditioning System Couplings 24/2009

Applicability: Model SF 340A with serial numbers 340A-003 to -138 inclusive. Requirement: Action in accordance with SAAB Service Bulletin (SB) No. SF340-21-22, and as appropriate SB SF340-53-025.

Note: Swedish AD No. 1-029 refers. Compliance: At the next "B" Check after the effective date of this AD, unless already accomplished. This Amendment becomes effective 28 January 2010. Background: Bleed air leakage in the ACM compartment caused by "Gamah" type coupling separation has resulted in structural damage due to overheated panels with resultant bonding separation between stringers and skin panel.

This amendment mandates SB340-53-025 as contained in Swedish AD No. 1-029. Also, Compliance 2. (b) of the previous issue of this AD has been removed as it was an Australian unique requirement not contained in the Requirement documents or the Swedish AD. Therefore, SB SF340-53-025 has been inserted into this amendment and the required actions of the previous AD revised into a single requirement and a single compliance requirement.
