AD/SF340/109 - Ceiling and Lavatory Fluorescent Lights (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

SAAB SF340 Series Aeroplanes AD/SF340/109 Ceiling and Lavatory Fluorescent Lights 1/2010

Applicability: Model 340B aeroplanes serial numbers 340B-342, -359 through -394, -396 through -404 and -406. Requirement: Unless previously accomplished, inspect, rework and, if necessary, replace the fluorescent lamp holders in accordance with SAAB Service Bulletin 340-33-040 Revision 01 dated 29 January 1997 or later revision approved by the Swedish Luftfartsverket (LFV) or the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Note 1: This may have been previously accomplished in accordance with AD/SF340/54, LFV SAD 1-103, LFV SAD 1-103R1, FAA AD 97-13-06 Amdt 39-10052 or FAA AD 2000-16-09 Amdt 39-11864. Note 2: LFV SAD 1-103R1 refers. Compliance: Within six calendar months after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 11 January 2010. Background: This Directive results from a routine review of airworthiness directives for SAAB 340 model aeroplanes. The review discovered that all references to the inspection, rework and replacement of the ceiling and lavatory fluorescent lamp holders had been removed from AD/SF340/54 Amdts 1 and 2. This Directive re-establishes the requirement to inspect, rework and, if necessary, the replacement of the ceiling and lavatory fluorescent lamp holders.
