Maintenance authority
This Civil Aviation Order is to be read in conjunction with Civil Aviation Order 100.23.
1 Requirements for issue
1.1Unless otherwise approved by the Director, an applicant for an authority issued under this Civil Aviation Order must be the holder of an aircraft engineer licence.
1.2An applicant for such an authority must submit satisfactory evidence that:
(a) he or she has been adequately trained for the purpose; and
(b) he or she has had adequate practical experience of the duties to be performed in relation to the authority; and
(c) he or she has passed such examinations in relation to the authority as are required or approved for the purpose.
2 Application for authority
Application for an authority should be made on Form 350 and it should normally be endorsed by the applicant's employer in regard to the circumstances in which the authority is intended to be used.
3 Issue of authority
3.1An authority may be issued to an applicant who satisfies the requirements of subsection 1 and who has demonstrated his or her competence to perform the maintenance functions associated with the privileges endorsed in the authority.
3.2An authority may be issued in respect of a maintenance function to be performed and certified on a particular aircraft, or a type, series or group of aircraft, engine, systems or installations.
