AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Rolls Royce Turbine Engines - RB211 TRENT 700 Series AD/TRENT 700/1 Engine - IP Turbine Bearing 17/2012 Oil Vent & Scavenge Tube
Applicability: RB211 Trent 700 series engines identified in EASA AD 2009-0069 except when previously modified in accordance with Rolls-Royce Service Bulletins 72-E708, 72-E965 or 72-F227. Requirement: Perform periodic inspections specified in sections (1) and (2) of EASA AD 2009-0069. Carry out terminating action specified in section (3) of EASA AD 2009-0069. Note: Rolls-Royce Service Bulletin 72-AE792 Rev 4 refers. Compliance: Periodic inspections must be performed at intervals specified in EASA AD 2009-0069. Terminating action must be completed before the first flight after the next 05 module overhaul, but not later than 31 May 2014, whichever occurs first. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 August 2012. Background: CASA has reviewed state-of-design ADs applicable to Trent 700 engines and decided EASA AD 2009-0069 should be explicitly mandated for applicable engines in Australian aircraft.
