AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below repeals Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/A320/27 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001 (1) of CASR 1998 and subsection 33 (3) of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct an unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Airbus Industrie A319, A320 and A321 Series Aeroplane AD/A320/27 Amdt 2 Nose Wheel Steering Control 22/2013
Applicability: This AD applies to all models of A320 aircraft. Requirement: The registered operator of the aircraft must take action in accordance with the requirements of Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) AD 92-117-025(B)R1. Compliance: The required action must be taken before the end of 31 December 2013. The effective date of this AD is 29 October 2013. Background: AD/A320/27 Amdt 1 was issued to update the applicability and technical requirements contained in the revised DGAC AD and amend the DGAC AD reference. This AD is issued to correct a typographical error in the DGAC AD reference. The AD number is corrected from 91-117-025(B)R1 to 92-117-025(B)R1. There are no changes to the technical requirements of this AD. Airbus Industrie has reported cases of nose wheels rotating to 90 degrees on landing, causing significant damage to the wheel. This AD requires updating of the Brake/Steering Control Unit functional software which will prevent occurrences of a similar nature.
