I, ERIC ABETZ, Minister for Employment, make this Notice under subsection 5(6) of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.

1 Name of Notice

This Notice is the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Definition of Employee – G20 Volunteers) Notice 2014.

2 Commencement

This Notice commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

3 Declaration

For the purposes of subsection 5(6) of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, I declare that:

(a) the class of persons specified in Column 1 of the Schedule, being persons who engage in the activities or perform acts specified in Column 2 of the Schedule, shall be taken to be employed by the Commonwealth; and

(b) the employment of such persons shall, for those purposes, be taken to be constituted by the performance by such persons of the acts or activities specified in Column 2 of the Schedule.

Column 1: Class of persons Column 2: Classes of acts

Persons who, under the control or direction of a member of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's G20 Taskforce, assist, without receiving remuneration (other than payment of expenses incurred), in the running of the G20 Leaders' Summit 2014. * Acts performed in connection with the rendering of assistance to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's G20 Taskforce for the period up to and including 21 November 2014; or
