1 Name This instrument is the Social Security (Exempt Lump Sums – Expense Payment Associated with Participation in the New Employment Services Trial) Determination 2019.

2 Commencement (1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

3 Authority This instrument is made under paragraph 8(11)(d) of the Social Security Act 1991.

4 Definitions In this instrument: Act means the Social Security Act 1991. Expense Payment means, in the case of an individual participating in the New Employment Services Trial, an amount: (a) paid by, or on behalf of, the Commonwealth, to assist with the individual's expenses associated with, or incidental to, the individual's participation in the New Employment Services Trial; and (b) received by any means including: (i) a reimbursement to the individual; or (ii) a direct payment to a supplier who provides a good or service to the individual. New Employment Services Trial means the program established by the Commonwealth and known as the "New Employment Services Trial". 5 Exempt Lump Sum For the purposes of paragraph 8(11)(d) of the Act, if an individual participating in the New Employment Services Trial receives an Expense Payment, that amount is an exempt lump sum.
