Notice – Proclamation – Special Public & Bank Holidays 2020 Territory of Christmas Island No 02/2019, Friday, 12 July 2019 Christmas Island Act 1958 I, Natasha Griggs, Administrator of the Territory of Christmas Island under the powers delegated to me under the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972 (WA)(CI), as enabled by section 8A of the Christmas Island Act 1958, determine that the following days are to be special Public and Bank Holidays in the Territory of Christmas Island as of Friday, 12 July 2019. Chinese New Year (Day 1) Tuesday, 28 January 2020 (in lieu of Saturday, 25 January 2020) Chinese New Year (Day 2) Wednesday, 29 January 2020 (in lieu of Sunday, 26 January 2020) Labour Day Monday, 16 March 2020 Hari Raya Puasa Monday, 25 May 2020* (in lieu of Sunday, 24 May 2020) Hari Raya Haji Friday, 31 July 2020* *Dates subject to change: the Islamic calendar is based on lunar observation. Although it is possible to estimate with a reasonable degree of accuracy the lunar calendar in advance, the dates will be subject to the sighting of the new moon.
