AD/GC-1/4 Landing Gear Rework (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001 (1) of CASR. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct an unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Swift Museum Foundation GC-1A and GC-1B Series Aeroplanes AD/GC-1/4 Landing Gear Rework 18/2020

Applicability: All Swift Museum Foundation GC-1A and GC-1B model aircraft. Requirement: 1. a. Inspect all bushings in all landing gear pivot points for wear that would allow fore and aft travel of the main landing gear. The total fore and aft travel of the wheels, measured at the centre of the axle, due to the cumulative slack in the worn bushing, must not be more than 3/8 of an inch. This check must be made with the hydraulic pressure relieved on the system and with the landing gear in two positions: i. Unlocked and in an intermediate position near to, but not in, the full down position; and ii. With the landing gear just entering the wheel well. If the total fore and aft travel of the wheel of either landing gear is more than 3/8 of an inch in either position, the landing gear assembly must be repaired as necessary to reduce this travel to less than 3/8 of an inch. b. Install spacer emergency landing gear pull down system in accordance with TEMCO Service Bulletin No. 28, as in force from time to time, to prevent inadvertent unthreading of the drive screw. c. Inspect the emergency extension system for proper adjustment in accordance with paragraphs 8, 9 and 12 of TEMCO Service Bulletin No. 28, as in force from time to time. Note 2: The words "as in force from time to time" require compliance with the most recent version of the referenced document. Compliance: 1. a. Unless previously accomplished, within 6 months after the commencement date of this AD and thereafter at every 100 hours' time in service or every 12 months, whichever occurs first. b. Unless previously accomplished, at 100 hours' time in service or 12 months, whichever occurs first. c. Unless previously accomplished, within 6 months after the commencement date of this AD and thereafter at every 100 hours' time in service or every 12 months, whichever occurs first.
