1 Name This instrument is the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (Words or Expressions with the Same or Similar Meaning to the Word University) Determination 2021.

2 Commencement (1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

3 Authority This instrument is made under subsection 204A(3) of the Act.

4 Definition In this instrument: Act means the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011.

5 Words or expressions with the same or similar meaning to university The following words or expressions have the same or similar meaning as the word university for the purposes of subparagraph 204A(1)(a)(ii) of the Act: (a) Universities; (b) Uni, but not where those letters are used as part of a longer word, which is not university (such as community or junior); and (c) A word in a foreign language that has the same meaning as the word university.
