Information may be inserted in this column, or information in it may be edited, in any published version of this instrument. 3 Authority This instrument is made under paragraph 8(11)(d) of the Social Security Act 1991. 4 Definitions In this instrument: Act means the Social Security Act 1991. ACT means the Australian Capital Territory. ACT Loose-Fill Asbestos Disease Support Payment Scheme means an administrative scheme operated by the ACT Government to provide ex gratia lump sum payments for claims relating to a loose-fill asbestos-related disease diagnosed on or after 1 January 2014. asbestos disease support payment means a lump sum payment made by the ACT Government to or on behalf of an individual or their financial dependant in accordance with the ACT Loose-Fill Asbestos Disease Support Payment Scheme. 5 Exempt lump sum (1) For the purposes of paragraph 8(11)(d) of the Act, the gross amount of an asbestos disease support payment covered by subsection (2) is an exempt lump sum. (2) For the purposes of subsection (1), this subsection covers the following asbestos disease support payments: (a) an asbestos disease support payment made to the individual in relation to gratuitous attendant care expenses; (b) an asbestos disease support payment made in relation to attendant care and household services by third parties; (c) an asbestos disease support payment made in relation to home and vehicle modifications; (d) an asbestos disease support payment made in relation to funeral expenses; (e) an asbestos disease support payment made in relation to financial advice; (f) an asbestos disease support payment made to the individual in relation to a dependant lump sum payment.
