Notice – Proclamation – Special Public & Bank Holidays 2023 Territory of Christmas Island No 02/2022, Monday, 8 August 2022 Christmas Island Act 1958 I, Natasha Griggs, Administrator of the Territory of Christmas Island under the powers delegated to me under the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972 (WA)(CI), as enabled by section 8A of the Christmas Island Act 1958, determine that the following days are to be special Public and Bank Holidays in the Territory Christmas Island as of Monday, 8 August 2022. Chinese New Year (Day 1) Monday, 23 January 2023 Chinese New Year (Day 2) Tuesday, 24 January 2023 Labour Day Monday, 20 March 2023 Hari Raya Puasa Monday, 24 April 2023* (in lieu of Saturday, 22 April 2023) Hari Raya Haji Thursday, 29 June 2023* *Dates subject to change: The Islamic calendar is based on lunar observation. Although it is possible to estimate with a reasonable degree of accuracy the lunar calendar in advance, the dates will be subject to the sighting of the new moon.
