NAME OF STANDARD 0.1.1. This Standard is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 78/00 – Gas Discharge Light Sources) 2006. 0.1.2. This Standard may also be cited as Australian Design Rule 78/00 — Gas Discharge Light Sources. 1. SCOPE 1. This Australian Design Rule (ADR) prescribes the dimensional, electrical and photometric requirements for gas-discharge light sources which ensure interchangeability and correct functioning when installed in a gas-discharge headlamp. 2. APPLICABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION 1. The circumstances under which gas discharge light sources can be used in gas discharge headlamps as set out in ADR 50/... or 77/... 3. DEFINITIONS 1. Refer to paragraph 2.1 of Appendix A. 4. REQUIREMENTS 1. Lamps fitted with gas discharge light sources in accordance with lamp ADRs and required to comply with this ADR, must comply with either a) The technical requirements of Appendix A as varied by part 5 Exemptions and Alternative Procedures and Part 6 Supplementary General Requirements; or b) The alternative standards set out in part 7 Alternative Standards. 5.
