1. legislative provisions 1. Name of Standard 1. This standard is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 108/00 – Reversing Technologies) 2023. 2. This standard may also be cited as Australian Design Rule 108/00 – Reversing Technologies, Australian Design Rule 108/00, or ADR 108/00. 2. Commencement 1. This standard commences on the day after it is registered.

2. FUNCTION 1. The function of this standard is to specify requirements for reversing technologies to be fitted to vehicles as set out in part 3 below, to increase the driver's awareness or vision of road users behind a vehicle when the vehicle is reversing, and avoid or mitigate the severity of reversing collisions.

3. APPLICABILITY 1. This vehicle standard applies to category MA, MB, MC, MD, ME, NA, NB and NC vehicles, from the dates set out in clauses 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 and the table under clause 3.2 below. 1. 1 November 2025 for new model vehicles. 2. 1 November 2027 for all vehicles. 2. For the purposes of clauses 3.1.1, a "new model" is a vehicle model first produced with a 'Date of Manufacture' on or after the date prescribed in that clause. 3. This vehicle standard is not mandatory to the types of vehicles specified in clauses 3.3.1 and 3.3.2 below. Manufacturers of such vehicles may optionally comply with this ADR. 1. 'Partially Completed Vehicle' (such as 'Chassis-cab' and 'Chassis-cowl'); and Note: after completion vehicles are required to comply. 3.3.2. 'Prime Mover'.
