1. LEGISLATIVE PROVISIONS 1. Name of Standard 1. This standard is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 106/00 – Side Underrun Protection) 2023. 2. This standard may also be cited as the Australian Design Rule 106/00 – Side Underrun Protection, the Australian Design Rule 106/00, or ADR 106/00. 2. Commencement 1. This standard commences on the day after it is registered.
2. FUNCTION 1. The function of this vehicle standard is to reduce the risk of pedestrians and cyclists falling under the sides and being caught under the wheels of medium and heavy goods vehicles, particularly during turning manoeuvres in urban areas.
