1 Name This instrument is the Fisheries Management (Multiple Fishery Closures) Direction 2024.
2 Commencement This instrument commences 30 April 2024.
3 Authority This instrument is made under subsection 41A(2) of the Act.
4 Definitions Note: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in definitions section of the Act, including the following: (a) Australian Fishing Zone; (b) Fishing. In this instrument: Act means the Fisheries Management Act 1991. Western Tuna and Billfish Fishery has the same meaning as in the Western Tuna and Billfish Management Plan 2005. Western Skipjack Fishery has the same meaning as in the Fisheries Management Regulations 2019.
5 Schedules Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
6 To Whom this instrument applies (1) This instrument applies to a person who is permitted to engage in in fishing (however described) in the following fisheries: (a) Western Tuna and Billfish Fishery; and (b) Western Skipjack Fishery.
7 Direction not to engage in fishing Fishing is not to be engaged in in the areas specified in Annexure A and Annexure B.
