Part 1—Preliminary
1 Name This instrument is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection (Kings Plains) Declaration 2024.
2 Commencement (1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

3 Authority This instrument is made under section 10 of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984.
4 Definitions In this instrument: Act means the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984. bulk earthworks means the excavation or other movement of large quantities of soil or rock with the intent or effect of changing the level or elevation of an area of land. declared area means the area specified in section 5. land includes soil and vegetation. mining activities means activities that include, or are related to, the extraction of materials or minerals from the ground. Note: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in section 3 of the Act, including the following: (a) area; (b) significant Aboriginal area.
