1. legislative provisions 1. Name of Standard 1. This standard is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 72/01 – Dynamic Side Impact Occupant Protection) 2025. 2. This standard may also be cited as the Australian Design Rule 72/01 – Dynamic Side Impact Occupant Protection, the Australian Design Rule 72/01, or ADR 72/01. 2. Authority 1. This standard is made under section 12 of the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018. 3. Commencement 1. This standard commences on the day after it is registered.
2. FUNCTION 1. The function of this standard is to reduce the risk of serious and fatal injury of vehicle occupants in a lateral crash by limiting the forces, accelerations and deflections measured by anthropomorphic test devices in a dynamic side impact crash test and by other means (including measures provided for protecting the occupants from direct contact with high voltage live parts).
