JUDGMENT:
The Tribunal found in a number of matters that the solicitor had acted in wilful breach of his statutory duties in respect of trust money and that the solicitor had misappropriated clients' funds amounting to $57,575.44. The Tribunal determined that the solicitor was guilty of professional misconduct and ordered that his name be removed from the Roll of Legal Practitioners.
The Complaint This Complaint was made by the Council of the Law Society of New South Wales ("the Law Society") against Garry Gray Cameron ("the Solicitor") alleging professional misconduct.
The grounds for complaint allege wilful breaches of S. 61 and S. 62 of the Legal Profession Act, 1987 ("the Act"); misappropriation of client funds; breach of Regulation 11(2)(c) of the Trust Account and Controlled Money Regulation (as then in force) and wilful breach of section 24A of the Victims Compensation Act. The Evidence At the commencement of the hearing the Solicitor, through his Counsel, informed the Tribunal that no admissions would be made by the Solicitor nor was it intended to adduce material in response to the evidence put forward by the Law Society
