Preamble. ITEREAS by an Act of the Governor and Legislative Council
of New South Wales made and passed in the fifteenth year of
15 View the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria intituled "An Act lo Builue Contpany " incorporate a Company to be called the 'Penrith Nepean Bridge Act. * Company' and to enable the said Company to erect and maintain a
" Bridge over the River Nepean at Penrith in direct coulinuation of
** the present line of the Great Western Road and to take Toll thereat
" for a term of years and for other purposes therein mentioned" it
was enacted that the capital stock of the said company shall be six
thousand pounds sterling and shall be divided into twelve hundycd - shares

shares of five pounds each And whereas since the passing of the said Act from the great rise which has taken place in building materials and every kind of mechanical skill and labor the said capital is found wholly inadequate to complete the building of the said bridge and it has become necessary to extend the said capital and to alter the said Act in other respects as hereinafter mentioned Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of the said Colony with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof as follows—
1, The capital stock of the said company shall he_ twenty Capital tobe £20,000 thousand pounds sterling and shall be divided into four thousand shares of £5 cach. shares of five pounds cach in licu of the capital of six thousand pounds and the twelve hundred shares specified in the said Act.
2. The time fixed by the said Act for the completion of the Time fer completion said bridge shall be and is hereby extended to the period of three three year years from the passing of this Act And it shall be lawful for the said company to ask demand recover and receive tolls as in the said Act mentioned for the residue of the term of forty years hereafter specified for the continuance of this Act not execeding the rates specified in the Schedule hereunto annexed marked A. Provided that the said bridge shall be built in the manner prescribed by the said recited Act and of a sufficient height to be safe and commodious during all states of the river and that the same shall at all times be kept and maintained in good order and condition.
