An Act to enable Samuel Clift, of Hast Maitland,
in the Colony of New South Wales, Henry John Adams, of Oxford Downs, in the Colony of Queensland, and Henry Trenchard, of Sydney, in the said Colony of New South Wales, to construct a railway from the Tleddon and Stanford Greta coal-mines to a line constructed by the East Greta coal- nining Company (Limited), under the pro- visions of the Silkstone Coal-mine Railway Act of 1889 and the Silkstone Coal-mine Railway Act Amending Act of 1892. [25th July, 1900.]

Stanford Coal-mine Railway;
situated in the parishes of Heddon and Stanford, in the county of North- umberland, near West Maitland; and in order to facilitate communication between the said coal-mines and the Great Northern Railway, the said Samuel Clift, Henry John Adams, and Henry Trenchard, hereinafter designated the promoters, are desirous of constructing a railway from their said coal-mines to a line hereinafter called the Silkstone Coal-mine Railway, constructed by the East Greta Coal-mining Company (Limited) under the provisions of the Silkstone Coal-mine Railway Act of 1880 and the Silkstone Coal-mine Railway Act Amending Act of 1892, and are desirous of constructing sidings at or near the junction of the said line with the Great Northern Railway for the more convenient use of the said proposed railway; but as part of such proposed railway and sidings are intended to be made upon and pass through land believed to be the property of the Crown, bodies corporate, and private persons respec- tively, the same cannot be made without Legislative authority. And whereas the said Coal-mines are likely to prove beneficial to the Colony, and the public are concerned in promoting such an increase in and facilities for the supply of coal for local consumption, steam navigation, and export, as would result from the construction of the said proposed railway and sidings, and traffie on the Great Northern Railway would be increased thereby: It is therefore desirable to authorise hy Legislative enactment the construction of the said railway and sidings, subject to the provisions hereinafter contained, upon payment of compensation to the several parties through whose land the same shall pass for such portion of their respective lands as may be required to be taken and ovcupied thereby : Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by.and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
