The Parliament of Queensland enacts—
Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Criminal Justice Amendment Act 1994.
Amended Act 2. This Act amends the Criminal Justice Act 1989.
Amendment of s 11 (Selection for appointment of chairperson) 3.(1) Section 11(2) and (3)— renumber as section 11(3) and (4). (2) Section 11— insert—
'(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to the reappointment of a person as the chairperson. '.
(3) Section 11(3), "(2)'— omit, insert—
'(3)'.
Amendment of s 12 (Appointment of members) 4.(1) Section 12(3), '11(2)'— omit, insert— 113). (2) Section 12(4)— omit, insert—
'(4) Section 11(3) and (4) apply to the appointment of other members of the Commission as they apply to the appointment of chairperson.'.

Amendment of s 13 (Acting commissioners) 5. Section 13(4), '11(2) and (3)'— omit, insert— "11(3) and (4)'.
Amendment of s 14 (Tenure of office) 6.(1) Section 14(2)(b), "(4)'— omit, insert— "(5)'. (2) Section 14(4) and (5)— omit, insert—
"(4) The chairperson of the Commission may be reappointed for a term of not more than 3 years if the chairperson remains qualified for appointment and the requirements of this Division are met.
"(5) However, the chairperson is not eligible to be reappointed if the total of his or her terms as chairperson would be more than 5 years.
