An Act to prevent the privatisation of the government cleaning service

The Parliament of Queensland enacts—

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Government Cleaning Service Preservation Act 1996.

Commencement

2. This Act is taken to have commenced on 2 August 1996.

Definitions 3. In this Act—

"government cleaning service" means the government entity (of whatever type and however described) that provides cleaning services to State schools, and includes the service's assets and functions.

"privatisation", of the government cleaning service, means causing the whole or part of the service to be transferred to, or managed or carried out by, a private person.

Crown bound

4. This Act binds the Crown.

Privatisation of government cleaning service unlawful 5.(1) It is unlawful to privatise the government cleaning service.

(2) Anything done to privatise the government cleaning service is of no effect.

This Act prevails

6. An Act (whether passed before or after this Act) that is inconsistent with this Act, is, to the extent that it is inconsistent, of no effect. 11 1316 18 20 23

The Parliament of Queensland enacts—

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Government Cleaning Service Preservation Act 1996.
