An Act to amend the Police Service Administration Act 1990

The Parliament of Queensland enacts—

Short title

Clause 1. This Act may be cited as the Police Service Administration Amendment Act 1997.

Act amended

Clause 2. This Act amends the Police Service Administration Act 1990.

Replacement of s 9.2A (Commissioner for Police Service Reviews) Clause 3. Section 9.2A— omit, insert— "Commissioner for police service reviews "9,.2A(1) A person is a commissioner for police service reviews—

(a) if the person is nominated under subsection (2)(a)—without further appointment; or

(b) if the person is nominated under subsection (2)(b) to (d)—on appointment by the Governor in Council under subsection (3).

'(2) The chairperson of the criminal justice commission may nominate any of the following persons to be a commissioner for police service reviews—

(a) amember of the criminal justice commission; (b) a former member of the criminal justice commission;

(c) aperson qualified for appointment as chairperson of the criminal justice commission;

(d) a person who has demonstrated an interest and ability in community affairs.

"(3) The Governor in Council may appoint as a commissioner for police service reviews a person who— 11 13 15 1720 22 24 26

(a) is nominated for appointment under subsection (2)(b) to (d); and

(b) is not disqualified for appointment as a member of the criminal justice commission under the Criminal Justice Act 1989, section 10(1).!
