This Act may be cited as the Public Service Amendment Act 1998. Act amended 2. This Act amends the Public Service Act 1996. Amendment of s 53 (Basis of employment for chief executives) 3.(1) Section 53(4)(a), 'of not longer than 5 years'-— omit. (2) Section 53— insert— "(5) The appointment of a chief executive made on or after 26 June 1998 terminates at the end of the day during the term of the appointment on which the appointment of any person to be Premier of Queensland first happens after a general election for members of the Legislative Assembly. "(6) Subsection (5)— (a) applies even though the term of appointment stated in the chief executive's written contract of employment is for a longer period; and (b) does not prevent the appointment of the chief executive ending at an earlier time.
