The Parliament of Queensland enacts—
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Transplantation and Anatomy Amendment Act 1998.
Act amended
2. This Act amends the Transplantation and Anatomy Act 1979.
Insertion of new s 25A 3. Part 3— insert— 'Effect of consent in drivers' licences
'25A.(1) This section applies if a deceased adult's Queensland driver's licence in force at the time of the person's death indicates the person has consented to be a donor.
'(2) For sections 22(6) and 23(3), the licence is taken to be signed writing by the person consenting to the removal after death of tissue from the person's body for any of the purposes mentioned in sections 22(1)
and 23(1).
"(3) Subsection (2) is effective for section 22(6) or 23(3) only in so far as the person relying on subsection (2) has no reason to believe the indication is incorrect or the consent has been withdrawn.
"(4) In this section—
"Queensland driver's licence" means a drivers licence issued under the
Traffic Act 1949.'. 121517 1923
