This Act may be cited as the State Counter-Disaster Organisation Amendment Act 1999. Act amended 2. This Act amends the State Counter-Disaster Organisation Act 1975. Amendment of s 6 (Definitions) 3. Section 6, definition "disaster"— omit, insert— ' "disaster" see section 6A.'. Insertion of new s 6A 4. After section 6— insert— "Meaning of "disaster" "6A.(1) A "disaster" is an event that causes or threatens to cause any of the following— (a) widespread or severe property loss or damage; (b) widespread or severe human injury or illness; (c) loss of human life. '(2) The event may be natural or caused by human acts or omissions. "(3) Without limiting subsection (1), the event may be any of the following— (a) a flood, earthquake, seismic sea wave, cyclone, storm, tornado, 1214 16 1820 22 s5 5 s5 State Counter-Disaster Organisation Amendment eruption or other natural happening; 1 (b) an explosion, fire, gas leak, fuel or oil spill or any accident; (c) an infestation, plague or epidemic; (d) a failure of, or disruption to, an essential service or infrastructure; nA FB WwW NY (e) an attack against the State.'.
