An Act to amend the Weapons Act 1990 Weapons Amendment
The Parliament of Queensland enacts—
Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Weapons Amendment Act 1999.
Act amended 2. This Act amends the Weapons Act 1990.
Amendment of s 33 (Interstate residents moving to Queensland) 3.(1) Section 33(1) to (5)— omit, insert—
"33.(1) This section applies if an interstate licence holder gives the commissioner—
(a) written notice of the person's intention to reside in Queensland— (i) for up to 1 year; or (11) permanently; and
(b) proof that the person is a current member of an approved shooting club.
"(2) While the person resides in Queensland, the person's licence is taken to be the corresponding licence under this Act in force—
(a) from the day—
(i) the person gives the commissioner the notice and proof mentioned in subsection (1); or
(11) if the person takes up residence in Queensland after giving the commissioner the notice and proof—the person takes up residence; and
(b) until it would otherwise expire under the law of the other State.
"(3) The commissioner must, by written notice to the person, promptly acknowledge that the licence is taken to be a corresponding licence under Weapons Amendment
this Act while the person resides in Queensland.'. (2) Section 33(6)— insert— ' "interstate licence holder" means a person who— (a) is aresident of another State; and
(b) holds a licence in force under the law of the other State that authorises possession of a category A, B, C, D or H weapon.'.
