The Parliament of Queensland enacts—
Part 1 Preliminary
1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Public Sector (Victims Protection) Act 2005.
2 Commencement
This Act commences on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
3 Dictionary The dictionary in the schedule defines particular words used in this Act.
Part 2 Compensation
4 Entitlement to compensation
(1) This section applies if—
(a) a public sector official or the relative of a public sector official suffers loss of, or damage to, property as a result of a violation by another person of the State's criminal laws; and
(b) the loss or damage arises out of the official's lawful performance of his or her functions as a public sector official or because of the official's employment as a public sector official.
