This section applies if the vice-president temporarily can not perform the functions of office.
The Governor in Council may, by gazette notice, appoint a person to act as the vice-president.
The person must be a person who is qualified for appointment under section 246A(2).
The person can not be a person mentioned in section 246A(3).
A person who has acted as vice-president may attend sittings of the court for the purpose of giving a decision in, or otherwise completing, proceedings that were heard by the person while acting as vice-president.
The person's decision in the proceedings is taken to be the decision of the vice-president.'.
