The Parliament of Queensland enacts—
Short title
This Act may be cited as the Electricity (Early Termination) Amendment Act 2012.
Act amended
This Act amends the Electricity Act 1994.
Amendment of s 55A (Negotiation of retail contract)
Section 55A(2), 'and 55C'— omit, insert— *, 55C and 55CA',
Insertion of new s 55CA
Chapter 2, part 6, division 3, subdivision 3—

'55CA Early termination of negotiated retail contracts in particular circumstances

This section applies in relation to a negotiated retail contract between a relevant customer and a retail entity, whether entered into before or after the commencement of this section, if the retail entity notifies the relevant customer that the entity's charges for the provision of customer retail services under the contract are to increase.
If the increased charges will be more than the notified prices, the retail entity must also, when notifying the customer of the increased charges, notify the customer that—
