Chapter 1 Preliminary
Part 1 Introduction
1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Queen's Wharf Brisbane Act 2016 .
2 Commencement This Act commences on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
3 Purposes The main purposes of this Act are the following— (a) to provide for the ratification of an agreement for a casino to be located within the Queen's Wharf priority development area; (b) to enact the agreement as a law; (c) to provide for the way in which an entity may become, or stop being, a party to the agreement; (d) to state the requirements for holding interests in relation to an entity that is a party to, or referred to in, the agreement; (e) to provide for the interaction between this Act and other laws.
4 Relationship with other Acts generally (1) If a provision of this Act is inconsistent with another Act, the provision prevails over the other Act to the extent of the inconsistency. (2) Subsection (1) does not affect a provision of this Act or another Act that expressly deals with the interaction between this Act and the other Act.
5 Act binds all persons (1) This Act binds all persons, including the State. (2) Nothing in this Act makes the State liable to be prosecuted for an offence.
