An Act to amend the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 2003 and the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Regulation 2015 for particular purposes The Parliament of Queensland enacts—
Part 1 Preliminary
1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Amendment Act 2018.
Part 2 Amendment of Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 2003
2 Act amended This part amends the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 2003.
3 Amendment of s 22 (When a sexual reassignment may be noted) (1) Section 22, heading, 'When a sexual'— omit, insert— Sexual (2) Section 22, from 'only' to 'married'— omit.
4 Insertion of new pt 9, div 8 Part 9— insert—
Division 8 Transitional provision for Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Amendment Act 2018
67 Transitional provision for particular applications Section 22, as in force at the commencement, applies to— (a) an application made under section 23, but not finally dealt with, before the commencement; and (b) an application made under section 23 after the commencement, whether or not the person underwent sexual reassignment surgery before the commencement.

5 Regulation amended This part amends the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Regulation 2015.
6 Amendment of s 12 (Noting reassignment of sex—Act, s 23) Section 12(2)(d)— omit. © State of Queensland 2018
