Part 1 Preliminary
1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Community Services Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2019.
2 Commencement This Act, other than the following provisions, commences on 1 July 2020— (a) part 3; (b) sections 119, 120 and125; (c) part 13; (d) schedule 2.
3 Act binds all persons (1) This Act binds all persons including the State and, as far as the legislative power of the Parliament permits, the Commonwealth and the other States. (2) Nothing in this Act makes the State liable to be prosecuted for an offence against this Act.
4 Main purpose of Act The main purpose of this Act is to establish a scheme for the portability of long service leave for workers in the community services industry.
Part 2 Interpretation
5 Definitions The dictionary in schedule 2 defines particular words used in this Act.
6 Meaning of community services industry The community services industry is the industry in which entities provide community services in Queensland.
7 Meaning of community services and community services work (1) Community services are services of a type stated in schedule 1 or prescribed by regulation. (2) Community services work is work to— (a) provide community services; or (b) support the provision of community services. Example for paragraph (b)— administrative support
