Part 1 Preliminary
1 Short title This Act may be cited as the Domestic and Family Violence Protection (Combating Coercive Control) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2022.
2 Commencement The following provisions of this Act commence on a day to be fixed by proclamation— (a) parts 3, 4, 7 and 9; (b) part 5, other than sections 57, 58 and 69; (c) schedule 1, part 2.
Part 2 Amendment of Coroners Act 2003
3 Act amended This part amends the Coroners Act 2003.
4 Amendment of s 70 (Appointment of State Coroner) (1) Section 70(2)— omit, insert— (2) The appointment as the State Coroner is for the term stated in the instrument of appointment. (2A) The stated term must not be longer than 5 years. (2B) A magistrate may be reappointed as the State Coroner. (2) Section 70(2A) to (3)— renumber as section 70(3) to (5).
5 Amendment of s 78 (Appointment of Deputy State Coroner) Section 78(2)— omit, insert— (2) The appointment as the Deputy State Coroner is for the term stated in the instrument of appointment. (3) The stated term must not be longer than 5 years. (4) A magistrate may be reappointed as the Deputy State Coroner.
6 Insertion of new pt 6 , div 6 Part 6— insert—
