The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows: Part 1—Preliminary 1—Short title This Act may be cited as the Statutes Amendment (Gambling—Opening Hours and Signage) Act 2024. 2—Commencement This Act comes into operation on a day to be fixed by proclamation.

Part 2—Amendment of Casino Act 1997 3—Insertion of section 42E After section 42D insert: 42E—Prohibition of use of gaming machines at certain times It is a condition of the casino licence that the licensee must not allow a gaming machine or automated table game equipment to be operated in the casino premises between the hours of 2 am and 8 am.

Part 3—Amendment of Gaming Machines Act 1992 4—Amendment of section 27—Conditions Section 27(7)—delete paragraph (b) and substitute: (b) must ensure that— (i) gaming operations cannot be conducted on the premises between the hours of 2 am and 8 am; and (ii) there are at least 6 additional hours (which may be a continuous period of 6 hours, or 2 separate periods of 3 hours or 3 separate periods of 2 hours) during which gaming operations cannot be conducted on the premises; and 5—Insertion of section 54 After section 53B insert: 54—Prohibition on display of certain gambling related signs (1) The holder of a gaming machine licence must not display, or cause to be displayed, any gambling related sign— (a) outside or in the vicinity of licensed premises; or (b) inside licensed premises that is visible from outside of the licensed premises. Maximum penalty: $35 000. (2) Subsection (1) does not apply in relation to the display of a gambling related sign of a kind prescribed by the regulations that is displayed in a manner that complies with the requirements of the regulations. (3) In this section— gambling related sign means a sign or notice (whether consisting of words, symbols, pictures or any other thing)— (a) that draws attention to, or can reasonably be taken to draw attention to, the availability of gaming machines on licensed premises; or (b) that uses a symbol, picture, word, term or expression associated with gambling. 6—Amendment of Schedule 1—Gaming machine licence conditions Schedule 1—delete paragraph (nd)
