The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows:
Part 1—Preliminary
1—Short title
This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Committees (Response to Reports) Amendment Act 2024.
Part 2—Amendment of Parliamentary Committees Act 1991
2—Amendment of section 19—Reference of Committee report to Minister for response
(1) Section 19(1) and (1a)—delete subsections (1) and (1a) and substitute:
(1) On a report being presented by a Committee to its appointing House or Houses, the report is referred by force of this section to the Minister with primary responsibility in the area concerned for that Minister's response.
(2) Section 19(4)—before the definition of prescribed Minister insert:
appointing House or Houses means—
(a) in relation to a Committee established under this Act—the Committee's appointing House or Houses as defined in section 3; or
(b) in relation to any other Committee—the House that appointed the Committee or, in the case of a joint Committee, both Houses;
Committee means a Committee established under this Act or a Committee referred to in section 36;
