The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows: Part 1—Preliminary 1—Short title This Act may be cited as the Gas (Ban on New Connections) Amendment Act 2022.
Part 2—Amendment of Gas Act 1997 2—Insertion of section 76 Before section 77 insert: 76—New gas connections banned (1) A person must not, on or after 1 January 2025, install any new gas installation at a residential property. Maximum penalty: (a) if the offender is a body corporate—a penalty of $50 000; (b) in any other case—a penalty of $10 000. (2) In this section— new gas installation does not include a gas installation that replaces an existing gas installation; residential property means a property that is being, or is to be, occupied solely as a place of residence. Note— This would not include a property used for a home based business or for primary production purposes.
