The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows: Part 1—Preliminary 1—Short title This Act may be cited as the Statutes Amendment (Personal Mobility Devices) Act 2024. 2—Commencement (1) Subject to this section, this Act comes into operation on the day on which it is assented to by the Governor. (2) Part 2 of this Act is taken to have come into operation on the prescribed day. (3) Part 3 and Part 4 of this Act come into operation on a day to be fixed by proclamation. (4) In this section— prescribed day means the day on which the Statutes Amendment (Personal Mobility Devices) Bill 2024 was introduced in the House of Assembly.

Part 2—Amendment of Motor Vehicles Act 1959 commencing on prescribed day 3—Amendment of section 5—Interpretation Section 5(1), definition of motor vehicle—after "part of the vehicle" insert: but does not include an electric personal transporter (within the meaning of the Road Traffic (Miscellaneous) Regulations 2014) that may be driven on or over a road in accordance with an approval of the Minister under section 161A of the Road Traffic Act 1961
