The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows: Part 1—Preliminary 1—Short title This Act may be cited as the Equal Opportunity (Religious Bodies) Amendment Act 2024. 2—Commencement This Act commences 6 months after the day on which it is assented to by the Governor.
Part 2—Amendment of Equal Opportunity Act 1984 3—Amendment of section 34—Exemptions Section 34(3)—delete subsection (3) 4—Amendment of section 50—Religious bodies Section 50(1)—delete subsection (1) and substitute: This Part does not render unlawful discrimination in relation to the selection or appointment of a person to a religious order or a body established for religious purposes on the basis that they must belong to that particular religion or adhere to the precepts of that religion.
