Poisons (Exempted Public Institutions) Order 2020
I make the following order under section 55(3) of the Poisons Act 1971 .

1. Short title This order may be cited as the Poisons (Exempted Public Institutions) Order 2020 .
2. Commencement This order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.
3. Interpretation (1) In this order – Act means the Poisons Act 1971 ; Analytical Services Tasmania means that part of the department responsible for the administration of the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 that is known as Analytical Services Tasmania; Forensic Science Service Tasmania means that part of the department responsible for the administration of the Police Service Act 2003 that is known as Forensic Science Service Tasmania; Tasmania Prison Service means that part of the department responsible for the administration of the Corrections Act 1997 that is known as the Tasmania Prison Service; Tasmanian Herbarium means that part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery that is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of the botanical collections of Tasmania. (2) The Acts Interpretation Act 1931 applies to the interpretation of this order as if this order were by-laws.
4. Exempted public institutions The following public institutions are declared to be exempted public institutions for the purposes of section 55 of the Act: (a) Analytical Services Tasmania; (b) Forensic Science Service Tasmania; (c) the Police Service; (d) the responsible Department in relation to the Police Offences Act 1935 ; (e) the Tasmania Prison Service; (f) the Tasmanian Herbarium; (g) the University of Tasmania.
