Appropriation Act (No. 1) 2023
An Act for the appropriation of $7 398 397 000 out of the Public Account for the services of the Government for the financial year ending on 30 June 2024 [Royal Assent 7 July 2023]
Be it enacted by Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:
1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Appropriation Act (No. 1) 2023 .
2. Commencement This Act commences on 1 July 2023, but if it does not receive the Royal Assent by that date this Act is taken to have commenced on 1 July 2023.
3. Interpretation For the purposes of this Act – Capital Services means – (a) public works or property required for public purposes; or (b) a loan authorised by law; Operating Services means the ordinary annual services of the Government.
4. Issue, application and appropriation of $7 398 397 000 (1) In respect of the financial year ending on 30 June 2024, the Treasurer may – (a) issue the sum of $7 398 397 000 out of the Public Account; and (b) apply that sum for the services of the Government. (2) The sum specified in subsection (1)(a) is appropriated.
5. Purposes of appropriation The sum specified in section 4(1)(a) is to be applied for the purposes specified in Schedule 1 and detailed in the agency information in support of the estimates for the financial year ending on 30 June 2024.
6. Expiry of Act This Act expires on 30 June 2025.
