Traffic (Compliance and Enforcement) Regulations 2017

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Traffic Act 1925 .

1. Short title These regulations may be cited as the Traffic (Compliance and Enforcement) Regulations 2017 .

2. Commencement These regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette.

3. Interpretation (1) In these regulations – Act means the Traffic Act 1925 ; DLVR means the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2021 ; MALC means the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973 ; RR means the Road Rules ; TA means the Traffic Act 1925 ; VOR means the Vehicle and Traffic (Vehicle Operations) Regulations 2024 ; VSR means the Vehicle and Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 2024 (known as the Vehicle Standards); VT means the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 . (2) A reference in Schedule 1 to an Act or to any regulations, followed immediately by a number, is a reference to the provision of that Act or those regulations that is so numbered.

4. Prescribed offences for section 9(3) of Act For section 9(3) of the Act, a parking offence is a prescribed offence.

5. Prescribed offences for section 43H of Act For the purposes of section 43H(6A) of the Act, the following are prescribed offences: (a) a parking offence; (b) a speeding offence; (c) an offence under regulation 12(2) or (3) of the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2021 .
