Applicability: SPEY 506-14, 506-14A, 506-14D, 511-5W, 511-8, 511-14, 511-14W, 512-14E, 512-14DW, 512-5, 512-5W, 555-15, 555-15H, 555-15N, 555-15P.
Requirement: ROLLS ROYCE S.B. Sp 72-997.
Compliance: At next engine overhaul or when the engine is disassembled sufficiently to allow access to the primary air scoops.
Background: Rolls Royce advise there has been as incident where a primary air scoop failure resulted in flame penetration of the engine major casings and the engine cowling. This Directive requires compliance with Rolls Royce S.B. Sp 72-997 which details an improved standard of primary air scoop overhaul.
