SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Eurocopter BK 117 Series Helicopters
AD/GBK 117/13 Vertical Fin Skin Panelling 10/2003
Applicability: All Model A-1 up to B-2 helicopters, and Model C-1 helicopters with serial numbers 7500 through 7545.
Requirement: Action in accordance with Eurocopter Deutschland MBB-BK117 Alert Service Bulletin MBB-BK117-30-109 Revision 1.
Note: LBA AD 2003-219 refers.
Compliance: Within 100 flight hours after 2 October 2003, unless already accomplished.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 2 October 2003.
Background: The manufacturer has determined that metal sheeting of 0.6mm thickness instead of the specified 0.8mm thickness, was used during production for the skin panelling of several vertical fins. This Directive requires an inspection of vertical fin skin thickness.
